Zagreb is set to become a hub of youth water polo this summer, hosting two world championships for the women's and men's Under-16 teams. This event will bring together 60 national teams, showcasing the next generation of international talent. The city's recent success in hosting major water polo events, including the men's European Championship and the World Championship for Under-20 men's teams, positions Zagreb as a key destination for the sport. The Mladost swimming complex, with its open-air and covered pools, will be the epicenter of the action, hosting up to 18 matches per day for the men's tournament and 12 matches per day for the women's competition. The Stjepan Radić Student Residence, located directly opposite the complex, will serve as a social hub for the young athletes, providing shared spaces for relaxation, board games, and socializing. Croatia's women's and men's Under-16 teams will be among the participants, with Spain arriving as the defending world champion in both competitions. Tickets for the championships are available through the Adriaticket ticketing system. This event not only highlights the talent of the future but also reinforces Zagreb's status as a prominent host city for international water polo competitions, contributing to the sport's growth and development in the region.
